Commissioner James Harrod graduated Seminole High School and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University with a double major in Math and Physics and a double minor in Biology and Chemistry. He obtained a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Educational Administration and an EDS (equal to educational doctorate) From Oklahoma State University.
Mr. Harrod has 30 years of experience as a superintendent of schools mostly in Oklahoma and some in Kansas. His first teaching job was as a math and physics teacher at Enid High School.
Mr. Harrod has 7 years’ experience as a general contractor and 13 years’ experience as an electrical contractor. He also owned and operated Harrod's Shoe Box for 6 years in Holdenville, and has work experience in heavy equipment operation. Mr. Harrod worked as a policeman when in college.
Mr. Harrod is an active member of Shawnee Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis, and the Elks.
He is married to Kaye Steele Harrod and they attend Life Church.
